The backplate fixing centres of 211mm allow for a larger size handle that is often a benefit when replacing a damaged or worn multi point door lock mechanism. Cylinder locks can be found on uPVC and other kinds of doors. The cylinder lock operates by a key which unlocks the cylinder's casing. Most modern cylinders are made with bump and anti-drill features built into their design. They are designed to decrease the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to rotate in a different direction. This can help deflect the attack, and protect your door.
There are also cylinders designed to resist snapping. This is a typical attack on cylinders. A specific tool is used to break the lock's break line and then the front of cylinder is snapped off. This is a quicker and more convenient method of gaining access than using the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves no evidence of the break-in which can hinder insurance claims.
Spring Cassette
The spring cassette is located inside the base of the door handle backplate providing a sprung solution that returns your multipoint lock handles to their original position after using. There was a time when these types of handle didn't have a spring built into them, and without it they can droop or drop once the locking mechanism is disengaged. These spring cassettes are specifically made for use with sprung multipoint locks They will not work with non-sprung multipoint handles.
